GROUND TO FLOURISH.

GROUND TO FLOURISH.

Rolling hills, towering firs + an organic lavender farm.

Anker Park is a 27-acre mix of curated gardens and wild areas. Divided between sections of high- and low-grounds, winding paths guide guests through the property.

GROUND TO FLOURISH.

Aerial photographs show that almost the entire property was logged prior to 1951. By 1969, tree cover began to recover in the center of the property and around the residence. Today, mature stands of cedar, douglas-fir and maple have reclaimed much of the landscape.

The Park is an evolving sculpture of sorts, a collaboration of human design and nature’s whim. Lacking the formality of some popular gardens, the Park priorities nature’s desires over human control or comfort.

The Park’s primary curated gardens surround the Sward area and up the hill to the House. More recent plantings are dominated by native plants, with an eye to species that can adapt to a changing environment.

A place many have called “magical”.

We are grateful for their ongoing environmental, cultural and economic stewardship of our region.
